Ruth Gibson from Lumen Prize 2015 winners Gibson Martelli will be talking about their digital art work.

The London-based artistic collaborative Gibson/Martelli – dance and visual artist Ruth Gibson and artist Bruno Martelli – create installations and performance spaces using computer games, virtual reality, print and video technology. Their practice is an investigation into the body and landscape, the notion of space and simulacra and the sublime. Formerly known as igloo, their first collaboration WindowsNinetyEightwas nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts award (BAFTA).They have received awards and commissions internationally, from National Endowment for Science Technology and Art (NESTA), the Henry Moore Foundation,the Arts Council England, and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
They exhibit in galleries, institutions, theaters and festivals around the world including The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), the Barbican, SIGGRAPH, ISEA, The Royal Opera HouseRoyal Festival Hall & 52nd Venice Biennale. Their work is included in various private and public collections, and most recently they were artists-in-residence at Dartmouth College (Hanover, USA) with a solo exhibition at the Jaffe-Friede Gallery.
This event is part of a new series of Practice Based Research Computer Arts Society talks curated by the Institute of Creative Technologies, De Montfort University as part of their Practice Based Research doctoral programme.
